SSSUK is a charity registered with the UK Charity Commission (no. 328272). Its president and trustees are elected for renewable three-year terms by members attending Annual General Meetings. The trustees form the nucleus of the governing Committee, and carry out their duties in accordance with the Constitution of the Society, last amended in 2016. The Society’s officers are appointed from among its trustees, including the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Editor of the journal Sudan Studies of South Sudan and Sudan. The Committee may co-opt up to nine others with particular skills and experiences to join them in the deliberations and the executive work of the Committee.
