Originally from Sudan, Azim graduated with a PhD in economics from Bradford University. He was an academic at Sudan Uni of Science and Technology and Oxford Brookes University and has directed a national refugee programme at Hact. Azim had served as a board member/ director of various charities including Asylum Aid, Sudan Research Group, Trust for London, Newham Homes and was appointed by the Home Office to chair a national committee which advised the government on refugee integration policy and practice.
He currently works as a TV broadcast journalist and a research consultant.
