Jane Hogan was for many years a Senior Assistant Keeper at Durham University Library, where she was responsible for the Sudan Archive from 1997. She has now retired. She has visited Sudan five times between 2000 and 2015. With M.W. Daly she is co-author of Images of Empire: Photographic sources for the British in the Sudan (Leiden, 2005).
